Upcoming Workshops
Our felting workshops offer a gentle day of making, learning and connection at The Orchard at Wood End.
Held in our barn and surrounded by nature, each workshop combines clear, step-by-step guidance with plenty of space to work at your own pace. Whether you’re new to felting or looking to deepen your practice, you’ll learn practical techniques, gain confidence with materials, and create a piece that’s uniquely yours.
Alongside the making, there’s time to pause, share conversation, and enjoy homemade cordials and treats. These are relaxed, welcoming days — designed to slow things down, nurture creativity, and enjoy the simple pleasure of crafting together.

What you get...Workshops at The Orchard
These felting workshops are an invitation to retreat for a while as we gather in our barn around the big old table, with space to settle in and feel at ease. On warm days the doors are opened wide, the view and the sound of the birds and trees become part of the day. It’s a place that naturally encourages you to slow down and arrive fully.
Felting itself has a quiet, absorbing rhythm. The steady pricking of wool, the gradual emergence of form and shape is grounding. Many people tell me how calming they find it, how their minds soften and settle as their hands stay busy. It’s especially moving to hear from those who are trying felting, or workshops, for the first time and discover just how restorative this kind of making can be.
Throughout the session, you’ll be guided step by step, with clear demonstrations and plenty of support. Whether you’ve never picked up a felting needle before, or you’re looking to deepen your practice. You’ll learn techniques, felting insights and knowledge about equipment and materials that will set you off in your own creative felting journey.
Every group is different, and each brings its own energy, conversations, shared laughter, moments of quiet concentration. There’s a warmth and inclusivity that grows naturally when people are allowed to be themselves, creatively and otherwise. Together, we always seem to make more than felted pieces.
We pause partway through the workshop to share homemade cordials, cakes, and seasonal treats made from our own produce. A moment to rest, chat, and simply enjoy being together.
These workshops are about learning a craft, yes, but also about time, attention, and connection. With the materials, with the land, and community
